How to use this page

  1. Find your woodland on the map (or use the satellite image)
  2. Select your woodland type from the choices on the left.
  3. Click the search button, and click onto the map on the location of your woodland (if you hover over the map with the cursor, it will show the grid reference of the location).

You can repeat this as necessary in different locations in your wood.

For each search, you will see a list of priority species in your woodland's local area and be able to download a pdf table summarising habitat requirements and relevant management actions.

You can also download a factsheet about each species.

If logged in, you can save your searches for future reference. This is important if you want to keep a number of searches for different areas of your woodland holding.

Please note, results are an indication of priority species in or near your wood, based on distribution or survey data.
It is not a full list of species in your wood and appropriate checks must be carried out for all protected species.
